Getting paid without cards
You do not need Stripe or a card terminal to get paid for your NexaVella invoices. You can list your own bank account, MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal or another way to pay. Your customer sees your details on their invoice and pays you directly, outside NexaVella. When the money has reached your account, you mark the invoice as paid.
How it works
You add your payment details once
In NexaVella you list the ways your customers can pay you, for example your MoMo number or your bank account.
Your customer sees them on the invoice
The invoice page shows a "Pay directly" block with your details and the invoice number to use as the payment reference. The invoice e-mail only points to that page: your account details are never written in e-mails.
The customer pays you, not NexaVella
The money goes straight from the customer to your own account or app.
You check, then you mark the invoice paid
You look in your own bank or mobile money app. Once the money is there, you record the payment on the invoice.
Set up your ways to pay, step by step
Only the account owner can do this.
Open Settings > Payments
In the dashboard, open Settings, then Payments, and stay on the tab "Get paid by your customers".
Find the card "Other ways customers can pay you"
If you are in a country where Stripe is not available, it is the first card on the page. Otherwise it sits below the card payments card.
Press "Add a way to pay" and choose a type
Pick MTN Mobile Money, Orange Money, Bank transfer, Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, Interac e-Transfer or Other. The name is filled in for you and you can change it (40 characters at most).
Write the payment details
Write what your customer needs to pay you (300 characters at most). See the examples below. You can add a short extra note, for example "Send me a message when you have paid".
Save and check the preview
Press Save. The preview under the list shows exactly what your customers will see. You can add up to 8 ways to pay, hide one without deleting it, edit it or remove it at any time.
What to write in the details
Write plain text only. Use real line breaks to keep it readable. Always include the name on the account so your customer can check they are paying the right person.
- MTN Mobile Money (MoMo). MoMo number: 6XX XX XX XX Name on the account: Your Salon. Your customer sends the money to this MoMo number.
- Orange Money. Orange Money number: 6XX XX XX XX Name on the account: Your Salon.
- Bank transfer. Bank name, account holder name, IBAN or account number, and the SWIFT/BIC or routing number if you accept transfers from abroad (in the USA, the ACH routing number and the account number).
- Zelle. The e-mail address or phone number registered with Zelle, and the name shown on the account.
- Cash App. Your $cashtag, for example $YourSalon.
- Venmo. Your Venmo name, for example @your-salon.
- PayPal. Your PayPal.me link (paypal.me/yoursalon) or the e-mail address of your PayPal account.
- Interac e-Transfer. The e-mail address that receives Interac e-Transfers (Canada).
How your customers pay
They open the invoice
From the link you sent them by text message or e-mail. The block "Pay directly" shows your details, in English and in French.
They send the money
In their bank or mobile money app, to the details you wrote. They are asked to use the invoice number as the reference or message.
They tell you if they want
You can add a note such as "Send me a message on WhatsApp once you have paid".
How you confirm and mark the invoice paid
The Pay button is available to owners and managers.
Check your own account first
Open your bank or mobile money app and see the money, with the right amount and the right sender. Do not rely on a message or a screenshot sent by the customer.
Open the invoice and press Pay
On the invoice page, press Pay. Under "Other ways to pay", choose the way the customer used.
Confirm and mark as paid
Check the amount, add the reference or transaction number if you have one (optional), tick "I have confirmed the money arrived in my own account" and press "Mark as paid". The box is required.
What happens next
The invoice becomes Paid and shows "Paid by" with the way to pay, the reference, who recorded it and when. Revenue, commissions, stock and reports work exactly as for a cash payment, and the customer receives their receipt. Recording it twice does not count it twice.
Safety tips
- Mark an invoice paid only after you have seen the money in your own bank or mobile money account.
- Beware of fake screenshots and fake confirmation messages. Only your own account shows the truth.
- Ask customers to use the invoice number as the reference, so you can match each payment to the right invoice.
- Never share a password, a PIN, a one-time code or a security code with anyone, including someone who says they are from NexaVella, a bank or an operator.
- You never need your mobile money PIN to receive money. If someone asks for your PIN to "receive" a payment, it is a scam.
- Only the account owner can change the payment details you display. Keep your NexaVella login private.
- Some apps (for example Venmo, Cash App or your bank's Zelle service) have separate rules or business accounts for receiving payments for a business. Check that the account you list is allowed to receive business payments.
- Wait until the payment shows as completed, not pending. Some payments can still be cancelled or reversed by the sender or their bank.
- If someone says they sent too much or sent money to you by mistake and asks you to send it back, check your own account first and never send money back based on a message alone.
- If your customers say the payment details on their invoice look different from what you gave them, check Settings > Payments immediately and contact us.
What NexaVella does not do
- NexaVella does not hold your money. Payments go straight to your own account or app.
- NexaVella does not connect to your bank or mobile money account and cannot see your balance or your transactions.
- NexaVella does not check that a payment arrived. You confirm it yourself, then mark the invoice paid.
- NexaVella charges no fee on these payments. Your bank, operator or app may charge their own fees.
- NexaVella is not a party to these payments. It cannot resolve a dispute between you and your customer, and it cannot refund your customer: any refund is between you and them.
